Bug in link logic
Quote from Gary on September 20, 2025, 12:11 amHi. First, thanks for your great plugin. Second, I found a bug shortly after installing the plugin. I am on the latest WP. I have Royal Elementor installed. I imported one of their premade sites to get a jump start. I then altered some and deleted other pages. The pages I altered had different images which I replace and them deleted the old ones from media. I also changed the categories.
As I worked on the site, I decided to use your plugin. It immediately found errors that I recognized as the old images and categories from the files when I first started on the site. So I looked into each page and post and found nothing. I then loaded each page in Chrome, selected View Source and looked for the images. Nothing.
I then thought maybe, somehow, the link checker is seeing older versions. Since WP seems to keep ALL old revisions, I wanted to remove them for testing. I grabbed the plugin WP Revisions Control and set it to keep one old revision. It installs on the Settings > Writing page. I opened each file with an error. Made a minor change and saved it. Then ran link checks. The errors were gone. I then set revisions to about 10 going forward.
So it seems the link checker is looking at old versions of the file. Maybe it is not filtering on latest revision? Anyway, I hope this helps and I am happy to answer any questions. Thanks.

Thanks for writing in. I appreciate the kudos. 🙂
This is an interesting case for sure. Revisions are stored as separate post types that you'd have to explicitly scan on, which isn't even an option on the plugin.
Can you tell me what method you were using to check for the broken links? Was it front visits, the page scanner, or the multi scan on the admin list tables? I'll take a look when I get in on Monday and see if I can figure it out. I just started using Elementor with imported dummy content for the first time on two new projects I'm working on, so that might give me some insight, too.

Hi. I will make a short video of what I was doing. To begin with, I just installed the plugin and I assume it ran and found an issue. When I went to fix that one, I began to find more. Sadly I fixed all of them BEFORE I thought to capture the process. I will make the video later tonight. (Houston, TX Central Standard Time).

Can you tell me which method you used to check the links? By visiting the page on the front end, using the page scanner, or using the multi-scan on the admin list tables?
Btw, on another note, I visited your site and see over 400 mixed content errors in the console showing fonts loading on HTTP instead of HTTPS. That wouldn't make a difference with the broken link issue, but figured I'd point it out. I would run a link search and replace on your domain and replace all http://skytronicdrones.com with https://skytronicdrones.com to fix it. I believe Elementor has this feature (if so I haven't used it yet), but if not there are a few plugins that do it. I prefer Go Live Update Urls personally.
